Latest Features Notes
Make any directory (folder) into an image store. New functionality allows the user to use any Directory as an image store just by choosing the Select Imagestore function from the file menu. Navigate to where the new store is to be located and select - Create, if it is not a previous imagestore, or Open - if it is an existing image store.

In Photo Organiser, an "image store" is a location that you choose to store images in. Photo Organiser creates a database there that holds the information about those images. The database directory is in a sub directory of the image store and is called .PhotoOrg The database directory is usally not visible because it should be hidden by the operating system so you can't accidentally delete it!.

Once you have Created or Opened an imagestore, click "Update Store" at the bottom of the main form in Photo Organiser, then;

1. Click 'Start Add Images' if you have used system tools to put images in the image store location. Or...

2. click the 'Start Refresh' button to ensture that Photo Organiser no longer shows images that are not in the image store location (for when you have used system tools to delete images from the image store location).
Export copies of images and their associated data. Share your images and data with friends and family who also use Photo Organiser.
Simplified Install and User Interface. The lastest release of PhotoOrg has been tailored to make's it's use simple and intuitive.

work around
wrong error encountered when no image editor is configured within the application - error should state "no editor configured" not "cannot run program" Photo Organiser can launch an image editing tool from within Photo Organiser while you are viewing images -

Go to the configure option on the Tools menu to setup the tool of your choice and from then on you can edit images simply by right clicking on one and choosing the Edit Image menu option.
unable to select export file from file chooser box when trying to import or restore from an earlier export. Locate the export file e.g. IM-Export_date of export_v3.0.imexp and select the directory above

The fix will allow export files to be selected from the file chooser box. But, when doing exports generally, choose a new directory used only for the export (or to update an earlier export) give the directory a name you will recognise, It is advisable not to choose to export to a location which already contains files (particularly backup files) unless they are part of an earlier export
Current Issues work around
RAW files are currently unsupported RAW files are not a fully supported standard i.e. different vendors have different RAW files - users can convert RAW files into supported formats before importing files.
32bit bmp files are currently unsupported 24bit and 16bit bmp files are supported
EXIF data is currently unsupported; Use the categories and descriptions in Photo Org instead of EXIF. Your EXIF will not be changed by Photo Organiser because Photo Organiser does not change image files.

However, EXIF can be corrupted or (accidentally) changed by you when using image editing tools etc. -

So, once we have implemented an EXIF solution whereupon the EXIF will be importable into Photo Organiser during the image update routine, the copy of the EXIF information maintained in the database may be backed up as it will form part of the general information held for each image.
